Bhutan off to a flying start; Bangladesh and Nepal share a point

Bhutan got off to a flying start routing Sri Lanka 5-0 in the opening day of the SAFF U19 Women's Championship at the Bir Sherestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, while host Bangladesh and Nepal played a goal-less draw in the second match of the day held at the same venue.
A brace from Pema Yangzon and a goal each from Tshering Choden and Sonam Lhamo before an own goal Senavige gave three points to Bhutan.
Yangzon opened the scoring for Bhutan in the 14th minute and added her second goal in the 22nd minute, while Choden found the back of the net in the 27th minute before Lhamo wrapped up the half with a 45th minute goal. Senavige scored an own goal in the 85th minute.
"We want to continue this winning momentum. Let's see how far we can go," said Bhutan coach Tanka Maya Ghalley.
Sri Lanka coach M. Chaminda Sirisena rued the lack of match practice owing to pandemic.
Likewise, Bangladesh were unlucky to share a point with Nepal despite coming close to scoring several times and dominating the procession throughout the match. Nepal goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar kept Nepal at bay pulling a string of saves.
Bangladesh coach Golam Rabbani Choton was in praises for the team's effort and the performance of the opponent's goalkeeper.
" Our girls put up a very good performance today but we were not able to get the scoring. Nepal goal keeper played exceptionally well. She deserves a round of applause from all of us," he added.
Likewise, Nepal team coach Hari Om Shrestha said he was satisfied with a point from the match.
